How Much Does a Tarot Reading Cost in India in 2026?

I get this question on WhatsApp at least three times a week. Sometimes from someone in Mumbai who has been quoted ₹15,000 for a reading and wants to know if that is normal. Sometimes from a young woman in Lucknow who has been offered a reading for ₹200 and wants to know if it is real.

Both ends of that spectrum are real. Both can also be wrong for you. So let me lay out the actual numbers — the way a working practitioner sees them in 2026.

The short answer

A proper tarot reading in India in 2026 — 45 to 60 minutes, with a working practitioner who has at least 10 years of experience — costs between ₹1,500 and ₹5,000. That is the honest middle range.

Below that, you are usually getting a quick WhatsApp consult or a junior reader still building their hours. Above that, you are paying for either a senior practitioner with 15-20+ years of experience, a multi-modality session blending tarot with healing or counselling, or a premium location like South Bombay or Vasant Kunj.

Price ranges by depth, not city

City matters less than people think. A senior reader on Zoom in Chandigarh and a senior reader in Mumbai will deliver the same quality reading. What pushes prices up is mostly rent, branding, and how the reader markets themselves — not the cards.

₹300 – ₹500 — WhatsApp / single-question readings. Usually a single card pulled, a short voice note or text response. Good for one quick yes-no question. Limited depth. Often delivered by junior readers building their portfolio.

₹500 – ₹1,500 — entry-level live readings. 20-30 minutes, often Zoom-only. A working reader, but typically less than 5-10 years of experience. Suitable for a focused question with no major life decisions attached.

₹1,500 – ₹3,500 — the standard credible range. 45-60 minute live session, multiple spreads, room for follow-up questions, often a written summary. This is where most working practitioners with 10-20 years of experience sit. If you remember nothing else, remember this bracket.

₹3,500 – ₹7,000 — senior practitioners. 60-90 minute sessions, often in-person, often blending tarot with intuitive counselling, numerology, or Reiki. The reader typically has 15-25 years of experience and a deep referral network. In-person sessions in this bracket usually include candles, crystals, and a fuller sensory setting.

₹7,000 – ₹15,000 — multi-modality or premium-brand sessions. 90+ minutes, often combining tarot with hypnotherapy, past-life regression, or chakra work. Reserved for major life decisions — career transitions, relationship endings, fertility questions, business pivots. Often includes a follow-up reading.

₹15,000+ — celebrity readers or extended packages. You are paying for fame, location (5-star hotel suites, premium clinics), or extended programmes (5-10 sessions sold as a package). Sometimes worth it, often not. Ask very pointed questions about what exactly is included.

City-by-city honest ranges (2026)

For a standard 45-60 minute live reading with a credible practitioner:

  • Mumbai: ₹2,500 – ₹7,000 (higher floors due to rent and brand premiums)
  • Delhi NCR: ₹2,000 – ₹6,500
  • Bangalore: ₹1,800 – ₹5,500
  • Chandigarh / Mohali / Panchkula (Tricity): ₹1,500 – ₹4,500
  • Pune: ₹1,500 – ₹5,000
  • Kolkata: ₹1,200 – ₹4,000
  • Hyderabad: ₹1,500 – ₹5,000
  • Tier-2 cities: ₹800 – ₹3,500
  • Zoom from anywhere: usually 10-20% lower than the same reader’s in-person rate

What you should actually be paying for

A credible fee includes:

  • A live session of 45-60 minutes (or 90 for premium)
  • At least one full spread tailored to your question — not a generic three-card layout
  • Live dialogue: the reader explains what each card means in the context of your situation, and welcomes follow-up questions
  • A written summary or voice note afterwards (optional, but common for sessions above ₹2,000)
  • Confidentiality

It should NOT include surprise add-ons. If the reader says mid-session, “I am seeing something serious — I need to do a special remedy that costs ₹15,000,” stop the session and walk away.

The red flags around pricing

Free readings that pivot to expensive remedies. The reading is free. The remedy to “remove” what the cards revealed costs ₹25,000. This is the oldest manipulation in the industry.

Refusal to quote upfront. If the reader says “come first, we will discuss”, that is a sign you will be priced based on how desperate you look in the room.

Pressure packages. “You need 7 sessions for full healing.” “Buy 10, get 2 free.” A real reader does not sell tarot like a gym membership. Sessions are taken one at a time, as needed.

Crazy-low + crazy-high in the same listing. Be cautious of readers who charge ₹300 on Instagram and ₹15,000 in person. Either the cheap reading is a hook or the expensive one is a premium fiction.

What I charge, for full transparency

I am Mystic Poonam (Poonam Sharma). I have been practising in the Tricity since 2003. My current rates for tarot reading in 2026 sit in the standard credible range — a 45-60 minute session, whether in-person at my office in Sector 125, Greater Mohali, or on Zoom from across India and abroad. WhatsApp me directly for the current price and to check availability. I do not run dynamic pricing or surprise upgrades.

I list this here because the whole point of the article is honest information. A practitioner asking you to be transparent about your situation should be transparent about her own fees.

How to decide what to spend

Match the spend to the weight of the decision.

  • Quick guidance, low stakes: ₹500 – ₹1,500 reading is fine.
  • Important question that will shape the next 6-12 months: ₹1,500 – ₹3,500 with a credible practitioner.
  • Major life decision: career, marriage, separation, fertility, business: ₹3,500 – ₹7,000, often blended with counselling.
  • Long-term healing or pattern work: a series of sessions over months, priced individually — not as a package.

The right question is not “What is the cheapest reading I can find?” It is also not “What is the most expensive, therefore best?” It is “What does this decision deserve in attention and care?”
